The Stamps of Queen Victoria Silver Proof Coin Cover

This limited-edition souvenir features the Royal Mint’s Queen Victoria £5 coin struck from 925 Ag Silver to a flawless proof finish. The coin is paired with the eight Royal Mail Special Stamps honouring one of our nation’s longest-serving monarchs and her remarkable contributions to British philatelic history. 

The reverse of the coin features double portraits of Queen Victoria – as a young monarch and as the dignified figure of her Diamond Jubilee.

The coins are struck using hand-finished dies to remove imperfections to give a stunning ‘proof’ finish favoured by collectors. 

Blanks are fed into the coin press by hand before being struck up to six times, at a lower speed and with less pressure than other finishes, to preserve the finer details of the design.

This limited-edition souvenir includes artwork and editorial offering a fascinating insight into how images of Queen Victoria became emblematic of a period of rapid change and growth during her reign.

The coin cover handstamp features an outline of William Wyon’s original portrait of Queen Victoria. The location of East Cowes is where she died in 1901.
