This stunning Silver Proof Coin Cover, issued in partnership with The Royal Mint, is beautifully presented on an individually numbered, limited-edition souvenir featuring the commemorative issue’s eight main stamps.
Limited to just 750 individually numbered souvenirs.
This limited-edition souvenir features the Royal Mint’s Concorde 50p coin struck from 925 Ag Silver to a flawless proof finish. The coin is paired with the eight Royal Mail Special Stamps celebrating the 50th anniversary of Concorde’s first commercial flight.
The reverse of the coin features two Concordes, representing the two aircraft that took off simultaneously on the maiden commercial flights from Paris and London. Hand-finished dies remove imperfections to give a stunning proof finish favoured by collectors. Blanks are fed into the coin press by hand before being struck up to six times, at a lower speed and with less pressure than other finishes, to preserve the finer details of the design.
The coin cover handstamp features an image of Concorde breaking the sound barrier. The location of Heathrow, Hounslow, was the site of the first passenger flight from the UK.
This limited-edition souvenir includes images and stories from former Concorde pilot John Tye reflecting on the golden age of supersonic air travel. It’s a special keepsake that is perfect for collectors of stamps, coins or aviation memorabilia.
Limited to only 750 individually numbered editions.
