2013 sees the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Henry Royce, who established Rolls-Royce with Charles Rolls; as well as the centenary of Aston Martin’s founding. To mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation, we’ve created an extraordinary collection featuring some of the finest portraits of Her Majesty, including a brand new painting by Nicky Philipps - the first ever commissioned by Royal Mail. This exclusive commission is the result of three specially convened ‘sittings’ with the Queen at Buckingham Palace in late 2012. This beautiful 1st Class stamp completes our stunning set of Royal Portraits.
Issued on 30th May 2013
Arnold Machin’s bas-relief portrait of Her Majesty The Queen has been with us since 1967. Considered to be the ultimate in pure design, it remains as fresh as ever, despite its ubiquity and the passing of more than four decades since its introduction.
We are delighted to mark the 150th anniversary of London Underground with a Special issue which explores not just the ambition and engineering genius that gave the world a whole new way to travel, but also a wealth of truly revolutionary graphic art and architecture. Issue date 9th January 2013.
Our Classic Locomotives series set off with a look at Classic Locomotives of England in 2011, reaching Scotland in 2012 and Northern Ireland in 2013. We are therefore pleased to announce that it will shortly arrive at its final destination, celebrating the steam trains of the valleys through Classic Locomotives of Wales. Issue date 20th February 2014.

However, in the first of four issues for 2015 we are casting our net a little wider, exploring the simple beauty of working sail through six paintings by the artists known collectively as Pierhead painters. Released on 18 February 2015
