This individually numbered limited edition of just 9,000 Medal Cover combines the Special Stamps issued in April 2017 to celebrate eight legendary racehorses with a specially commissioned medal from The Royal Mint. Designed by the engraver Laura Clancy, the medal features the legendary racehorse Hyperion and the words: The Sport of Kings. The Special Stamps are based on specially-commissioned paintings by renowned artist Michael Heslop and include Frankel. Red Rum, Shergar and Arkle. Inside is a fully illustrated summary of the history of horseracing in the UK as well as a pen picture of the horses featured in the set of stamps. . The Medal Cover also comes with a complimentary pull-out containing key stats about and photos of each of the horses that appear on the stamps.
